St. Mark’s is supported by various committees. These are smaller groups of parishioners and clergy/staff who meet regularly. They help bring the congregation together and work behind the scenes doing essential jobs that enhance life at the church.
Along with the few listed below, there are other various committees that always need new volunteers! Contact the Parish Administrator to find ways to get involved!
Communications
Communications works with clergy and other church leaders to provide information for church members and the public at large to create a welcoming atmosphere and support interaction and participation at St. Mark’s.
We update the website, St. Mark’s Directory, and the Facebook page. We are actively engaged in examining our overall communications strategy right now to best serve God, the parish, and the wider community.
Property
The Property Committee provides oversight of our property, and supports our staff with the various property needs. The committee assists Toni (our Parish Administrator) and Joel (our Sexton) as they works tirelessly and compassionately to ensure that we have a safe, clean, warm and aesthetically pleasing environment in which to worship and have community. The head of the Property Committee is the Junior Warden of the church. The Junior Warden is a member of and elected by the vestry.
Stewardship
With clergy and others, this committee plans and implements an Annual Pledge Drive in the Fall. From time to time it provides educational opportunities about money, giving, and stewardship, including the parish’s budget and mission. New members are always welcome.
Garden Guild
The Garden Guild nurtures the health and beauty of the plants that surround St. Mark’s. We weed, mulch, prune, and plant by organizing work-days, volunteering, obtaining quotes from contractors, and fund raising. Our Landscape Task Force recently oversaw the transition of our thirsty lawns to low-maintenance, drought-resistant gardens.
