You are cordially invited to attend a one-hour Harpsichord Recital offered by Kimberly Kang at St. Mark’s, Berkeley on Sunday, May 5 at 4:00 p.m. Ms. Kang will perform on the Kevin Fryer Flemish Harpsichord.
Kimberly is a senior at UC Berkeley majoring in music and chemical biology. She studies harpsichord with Katherine Heater and organ with George Emblom. Last spring, she performed Bach’s Harpsichord Concerto in D Minor BWV 1052 with the University Baroque Ensemble, with which she has played continuo on both harpsichord and chamber organ. She has participated in masterclasses with Arthur Haas at the Amherst Music Festival as well as the Flint Collection in Delaware. Most recently, she gave a UC Berkeley Noon Concert playing harpsichord solos and duets. Currently, she is the pianist and organist at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Berkeley. This summer, she will be participating in the American Bach Soloists Performers Academy.
Kimberly will perform Bach: Gavotte from Cello Suite No. 6, BWV 1012 (Leonhardt transcription), Prelude in E-flat Minor and Fugue in D-sharp Minor, BWV 853, Chaconne from Violin Partita No. 2 (Leonhardt transcription), BWV 1004, Johann Kuhnau: Biblical Sonata No. 1, David and Goliath, Padre Antonio Soler: Fandango, and Joseph-Nicolas-Pancrace Royer: La Marche des Scythes
Kimberly is offering this recital in support of the July 2020 St. Mark’s Choir Tour Scholarship Fund to England where the choir will sing two, one-week residencies in Lincoln and Durham Cathedrals. Tax-deductible donations enabling participation may be made payable to St. Mark’s Choir Association. Thank you to Kimberly for supporting the tour fund!
