Stockholm Cathedral Choir on Sunday, June 21 at 5 p.m
The Stockholm Cathedral Choir will perform at St. Mark's on Sunday June 21 at 5 o'clock. Tickets are available for $20/$12. All proceeds will be used to benefit the 2011 tour of England by the St. Mark's choir.
A festival reception for the artists and concert attendees will follow in Hodkin Hall at St. Mark's -- on the plaza on the south side of the church.
The program consists of:
- Johannes Brahms (1833-1897): Fest- und Gedenksprüche op. 109 (Festival and Commemoration Sayings)
- Henry Purcell (1659-1695)-- Sven-David Sandström (b. 1942): Hear my prayer, O Lord
- Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847): Psalm 42 Richte mich Gott (Do me justice, O God); and, Psalm 91 Denn Er hat seinen Engeln (For He shall give his angels)
- Eric Whitacre (B. 1970): Water Night (lyrics Octavio Paz)
- Knut Nystedt (b. 1915): Peace I leave with you
- Arvo Pärt (b. 1935)Tribute to Caesar
- P E Lange- Müller (1850-1926): Madonna over bölgerne (Madonna over the waves)
- Nils Lindberg (b. 1933): The passionate shepherd to his love (lyrics C. Marlowe); and, Shall I compare thee to a summer´s day (lyrics W. Shakespeare)
- Hugo Alfvén (1872-1960): Aftonen (The Evening)
- David Wikander (1884-1955): Kung Liljekonvalje (King Lily of the Valley)
- Erland von Koch (1910-2009): Sommarpsalm (A Psalm of Summer)

The Flentrop Organ
Saint Mark’s Organ was built by D.A. Flentrop in the Netherlands. In 2002, we added new ranks to our instrument. In the spring of 2008, an article in San Francisco Classical Voice about the dedication of a new organ in San Francisco proceeded to identify the top ten organs in the Bay Area.
