Sunday School: Special Summer Projects: Power Lab

Screening of Shake Hands with the Devil on Thursday, July 24 at 7:30 p.m.

The Social Concerns Committee will screen the documentary "Shake Hands with the Devil" in the Parsons Library. This film is the 2007 authobiograpy of Canadian officer Lt.-General Romeo Daillaire, who was the commander of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda. The documentary recounts Dallaire's harrowing personal journey during the 1994 Rwandan Genocide and how the UN failed to heed his urgent pleas for fiurther assistance to halt the massacre. Refreshments and a discussion of the face of evil will follow screening. All welcome.

Sunday Forum July 27: Camino Report

Following the 10 a.m. Eurcharist, join us in the Parsons Library to hear of the adventures of five members of St. Mark's who have walked the pilgrimage road to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.

If you are interested in joining the choir for the 2008-2009 year, please contact the Director of Music at music@stmarksberkeley.org
Auditions will be held after August 17. The choir offers an ambitious music program with choral music representing the best styles from all eras.

Sunday School Summer Fun

St. Mark's offers Sunday School classes starting at 10 a.m. This summer, the main program will be "Power Lab," which will engage our children in fun, science-themed projects that will fuel a new enthusiasm for God's Word -- and for Jesus! If parents would like to check out the "Power Lab" project, click here. We'll also take trips back to Galilee by the Sea and to the Jesursalem Marketplace, with a stop or two into Godly Play on the way.

Continuing Ministries to the Homeless

Help prepare dinner to feed the hungry!  Hot Meals Service for the Homeless on Saturday, August 16, cook for 120 guests from 1:30-4 p.m. and/or serve the meal from 4:30-6:30 p.m. All volunteers welcome, including one-time or walk-in volunteers. Call (510) 848-5107 for further details.
